Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how SideQuest (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information when you use the SideQuest mobile app and related services.
The overview below matches what you see in the app. Account deletion steps are at sydquest.in/delete-account.
1. What we collect
Google sign-in
SideQuest requires Google Sign-In. We receive your Google account identifier, email address, display name, and session information to keep you signed in.
Your content
Synced content can include buckets, quests, shared text or links, reminders, link previews, feedback, bucket covers, profile photos, and small preview thumbnails. Original shared photos and videos stay on your device — we do not upload them in full.
On your device
SideQuest stores quests, preferences, reminders, and media locally on your phone.
Feedback
If you send feedback, we store your message, category, app version, and account ID. Bug reports may include a random diagnostics code that is not tied to your email.
Diagnostics
We collect privacy-safe feature usage, crash, app, and device diagnostics through Google services. Client analytics events never include your email, quest titles, notes, saved links, or media.
Server usage snapshots
We may store daily on-server usage summaries keyed by account id (bucket counts, quest open/completed counts, bucket names, and coarse share-platform labels such as YouTube or Instagram). These snapshots do not include quest titles, notes, emails, or full URLs. Snapshots may remain after account deletion for product metrics.
2. How we use it
We use this information to authenticate you, sync and back up your quests, show link previews, send reminders, and respond to feedback.
We also use privacy-safe diagnostics to understand aggregate feature usage, secure SideQuest, and diagnose crashes.
3. Who processes it
SideQuest uses service providers for sign-in, analytics, crash diagnostics, cloud hosting, storage, and link previews. They process information only as needed to provide those services on our behalf.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Retention
We keep account content while your account is active. After you delete your account, cloud content (buckets, quests, media) is removed as described below. Daily usage snapshots keyed by account id may be retained for product metrics. Other operational and diagnostic data is kept only as long as needed for security and reliability.
5. Deletion and your choices
You can delete your account in Profile → Delete account, or request deletion at sydquest.in/delete-account or hello@sydquest.in (include the Google email used to sign in).
When deletion starts:
- Your account is marked for deletion and normal signed-in use is blocked
- Local session data is cleared on the device that started deletion
- Cloud content stays recoverable for the next 24 hours. Signing in again during that window offers Restore
- After that deadline, we permanently delete your account and associated cloud content
You can sign out, turn off reminders, or clear app data on your device at any time. Signing out does not delete cloud data.
6. Children’s privacy
SideQuest is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect information from children. Contact hello@sydquest.in if you believe a child has provided information.
7. International processing and security
Your information may be processed in India and in other countries where our service providers operate. We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.
8. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the product changes. The dates at the top of this page will be revised.
